Silver City Blues Triumph Again – This Time at Rowing

Not content with winning in the pool, SCB took to the waters of the River Dee at the end of June to win the annual Inter-Company Row organised by Aberdeen Boat Club. The crew, rowing as “Clasher, Slasher, Smasher, Thrasher and Basher” had 6 training sessions to prepare for the event and went on to dominate proceedings winning all 6 of their races to lift the trophy.

This was the second time the club has won the event. The last occasion was 25 years ago when it was won by “the Blues Brothers and Sisters”.

This year’s crew was; Gillian “Clasher” Clunas, Kelly “Slasher” McIntosh, Greg “Smasher” Smedley, Andrew “Thrasher” Evans and coxed and coached by Brian “Basher” Bain.

It was a double celebration for Clasher as she was also celebrating her 60th Birthday that day.

We are now looking to defend the title in 2019 and since it is only open to people with no rowing experience we have vacancies for 4 (or possibly 8) club members to form a crew (or crews).
