Awards

Silver City Blues have a number of awards which are presented annually at the Christmas Dinner.

Farquhar Macrae Trophy for Most Improved Swimmer (renamed in 2022)

Farquhar Macrae was an SCB life member and a good friend to many within the Masters’ Swimming community, at training and competitions. His family commented how much he enjoyed watching the growing success of swimmers within SCB, and so it felt a fitting tribute to replace the trophy for Most Improved Swimmer in his honour with a new trophy named in his memory.

Richard Jones Trophy for Members Award

Richard Jones was a longstanding member of the club and this trophy was donated to SCB by the Jones family in 2014.

Members of SCB come in all shapes and sizes as do their achievements – what a former age group superstar sees as an achievement is completely different to somebody who signs up to the club with limited swimming experience. Achievements are all relevant and it is important that we recognise members across all abilities. Not only swimming achievements can be recognised but also contributions to the club from the membership throughout the year.

To be eligible to win the Members’ Award, a member must be nominated by a fellow Silver City Blues Member. Nominations can be made via e-mail to the club president including a short summary of why their nominee deserves the award. All nominations will be collated and made available to the membership. A shortlist will be created and an online vote will take place.
